![]() When your connection is beleaguered by slow load times, running those usual tasks can become frustrating and laggy. Whether it’s work or play, your regular online tasks are an integral part of your day-to-day routine. The Verizon speed test is fast, easy, and precise, giving you the best measurement of your broadband speed so you can determine if your network is giving you what you need.Your digital world hinges on the strength of your internet connection. It’s true that you can find other outlets to test internet speed, but many other speed tests are skewed and hardly as accurate as they let on. "The solution is simple: check your connection’s Mbps with the Verizon speed test. They also have a special speed test that specifically uses something in the firmware on Verizon routers. Test for that is done with a "special" Verizon speed test that tests from a Verizon server to eliminate any potential wider Internet delays. They may have some SLAs for business lines that guarantee bandwidth. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a specific speed." Their policy is "The bandwidth speed you get depends on lots of things, like network and Internet congestion, your computer's configuration, WiFi adapters used, others using Video On Demand or online gaming, the wiring in your location, etc. To add to this, the tech is incorrect in that Verizon actually does not guarantee the speed for any device for residential connections, including their routers, regardless of if you have a Verizon router Quantum Gateway or not. I pay for gigabit, but I typically only get about 900/900. Remember, residental connection speeds are advertised as a best effort connection. Does your computer have a gigabit NIC? How is the quality of your ethernet wiring? What speedtest site are you using? Have you tried alternative sites to speedtest from? Have you tried using a multi-source test like torrenting a linux ISO? It does take at least ~15 minutes at least from the time something is provisioned. ![]() The speed is either provisioned or it isn't, and if he did change your provisioning, it certainly isn't an instantaneous change. There isn't a setting they can change like this. I think the tech changed some settings to "prove" that the Verizon router performs better if a client called me and said, "Hey I'm only getting 92% of my advertised internet download speed," I'd tell him to stop wasting my time and hang the fuck up. I'm not trying to be a dick here, but as someone who works in I.T. I'm not spending money on a new router when my current router is capable of gigabit speeds.Ĭan a tech that actually has morals/ethics help me get my advertised speeds? If I buy the quantum gateway can I return it for a full refund? I know that if I got the gateway there would no longer be an excuse for a slower connection and then I could just swap in my router again, but I shouldn't have to jump through these hoops. I think the tech changed some settings to "prove" that the Verizon router performs better and attempt to convince me to spend $200 on the quantum gateway to get a further improvement. Incidentally I removed the Verizon router and hooked my Netgear R8000 back up and an still getting the 92mbps speeds. He then tells me that if I want the advertised speeds I need to purchase a fios quantum gateway. I told him that's better but still not advertised speeds. I hooked up the Verizon router and suddenly download speeds are 92mbps, with upload still at 118mbps. ![]() After trying to sell me higher speeds I said why don't we get the speeds I'm advertised at first. I told him fine, I have a Verizon router, and could we hook that up and get me the advertised speeds. He told me that I had to have a Verizon router to be guaranteed the advertised speeds. I told him that was bs because the test was running on a laptop directly connected to the ONT. I contacted Verizon and the rep said it was because I was using my own router. I recently had my service upgraded to 100/100 and when it was first installed/activated I was only getting 60mbps download and yet 118mbps upload.
